GJW Titmuss - Ecommerce website


GJW Titmuss are the UK's most successful independent pet food retailer, with several large warehouse stores and an online presence that is the envy of its sector. A family run business with strong roots dating back to 1870, they were founded by George Titmuss at Lemsford Mill in Hertfordshire.

Already a long-term client of Sparkstone, GJW Titmuss wanted to rejuvenate their aging Ecommerce website with a fresh new look. However, they already had an online client base that was familiar with the way the website worked and they seemed to appreciate it's look and feel. So we approached the project with a sensitive brush, keeping most of the old colour scheme and category structure. But we completely reworked the header design, navigation menus and product page layouts; and the design has been a hit with both customers and staff members alike.

This web project for GJW Titmuss also included an usual design challenge that has resulted in the creation of the most innovative content management system on the market today.

GJW Titmuss wanted to give suppliers' marketing teams access to the website, so they could control their own branding and product content. It was a requirement which meant developing a system that would allow siloed access to data, but could also allow suppliers the ability to create bespoke content and affect the design style of their own brand specific pages and category listings.

As well as the design and build of this incredible Ecommerce site, we continue to work with GJW Titmuss and their suppliers, producing web banners and email marketing campaigns. We also provide insight into their visitor data with Google Analytics monitoring and suggestions for improvement. It's a partnership that has seen GJW Titmuss become a dominant force in online petfood sales. In fact the new website has been so successful that conversion rates and orders went so high for a while, that we were actually asked to TURN DOWN their pay-per-click advertising as they couldn't cope with the extra orders!
